Why I Stopped Building My Life Around a 40-Hour Workweek

Why I Stopped Building My Life Around a 40-Hour Workweek

I couldn't sustain a 40-hour workweek, no matter how good I was at my job. After four rounds of burnout, I finally stopped trying to force my nervous system to adapt and started building a life around my actual capacity instead. It looked nothing like the mainstream path, but it changed everything.

Why I Don't Say Yes to Every Virtual Assistant Client Inquiry (and Why You Shouldn’t Either)

Most new virtual assistants are told to say yes to every opportunity, but I believe that's one of the fastest paths to burnout.

My way of operating is opposed to what you’ll hear in mainstream advice around finding clients for your business.

In this post, I share my 3 filters I use to evaluate every client inquiry: nervous system compatibility, long-term relationship potential, and whether the work is something I genuinely want to be doing.

Building a sustainable business isn't about taking every client. It's about choosing the right ones. And that means slowing down. Something a lot of business owners don’t want to hear.

Learn how to identify your skills, choose services you actually enjoy, find your first client, set healthy boundaries, and create a business that supports your life, not the other way around.

Your Knife Era: Using Autumn’s Energy to Heal Burnout and Clear the Clutter

You know what those old ladies - hands in the dirt, sun hat on - know right now that we don’t?

Those gardener ladies know that Pruning Season Has Begun! They have their shears out and are clip, snipping away right now. We literally saw one in the wild last nite!

So You’re Leaving the Convent - 4 Ways to Prepare

Recently, a woman still inside the convent (stilla nun) reached out to say she knew she would one day leave—but wasn’t there yet. It made me realize how much content I’ve made for women after they’ve left the convent, but not nearly enough for those standing in that in-between moment: still inside, but knowing you’re out the door sometime soon.

This post is for that exact moment.
That holy, hard season of quiet resolve before the leap.

If you’ve made the decision to leave, but haven’t yet told anyone—this is for you.

How I Lost 10lbs. in 4 Months in an Easeful, Sustainable Way

On February 2nd of this year, I had a rude awakening while trying on outfits for our 2nd Anniversary dinner. One skirt after another—skirts I’d worn dozens of times—suddenly felt PRET-ty snug. And shorter?!

My first reaction was: Oh no, did I shrink this?

I had not, in fact, shrunk all my skirts. I had gained about 10lbs. Between being in a relationship and adding meat back into my diet, I had gradually gained about 10 pounds over the past year. Nothing drastic, but just enough to not feel myself and not fit into my favorite clothes.

Instead of self-loathing or freaking out, I approached this with curiosity and science. I knew there were reasons and I knew there was a solution. Our bodies are basically science and math, with a little intuition.

So over the next 4 months, I lost those 10 pounds in an easeful, sustainable way - because that’s really the only pace I go at these days.
